Gratitude in 2016

Firstly, I hope everyone had an amazing New Year's Eve!  Whether you enjoyed it from the comfort of your home or went to a raging party, you have officially made it to 2016!

I hope you don't have too bad of a hangover!

Every year around this time, people become focused on their New Year's Resolutions.  This makes sense.  There are important aspects of everyone's life that, at some level, they would like to improve.

Some will vow to quit smoking (the hardest thing I have ever done) or to lose weight.  Others will make a commitment to be more productive in their career or break out of their shells and meet new friends or perhaps even a new partner.

While all of these things are important, our society is often focused on future progress and we end up forgetting about all of the blessings we already have.  Being alive is a gift in itself and we often have so much more to be thankful for than we realize.

Luxury is not limited to material possessions.  Fancy cars and diamond rings won't guarantee a fulfilling life.  The real treasures are in our memories, relationships and experiences. By allowing yourself to realize how successful you already are in other areas of your life, you can create a better platform from which you can achieve your new goals.

So, what are you grateful for?

This question is a great way to begin each day.  If you remind yourself every morning of the wonderful things in your life, it will be almost impossible to have a bad day!  When your mind is in the right place you will start the day on a positive note, success and achievement being a natural byproduct.  It's a snowball effect!

Keep an "Attitude of Gratitude" in the new year!  Trust me, you'll thank yourself for it later!
